Play Therapy

I am trained in child-centered play therapy as a mental health intervention for children ages 3-10 who are experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, and relational disorders. I have experience working with children & adolescents who have experienced sexual and physical abuse, neglect, and other forms of trauma. I integrate more directive interventions based on the needs of each child. My goal is that all my kids experience hope and healing in the playroom.

Individual and Couples Counseling

The adults I work with come to counseling with issues ranging from stress/anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and family of origin concerns. I approach treatment holistically and consider the importance of my client’s familial, social, and cultural context when understanding their unique needs in counseling. I have training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and have experience working with pre-marital, married, and partnered couples. I know coming to therapy can be difficult and scary, so my hope is that all of my clients feel at home in my office.

Retreats, classes, seminars

I have loved leading marriage retreats, 1-hour parenting classes, and semester long classes for churches, libraries, and other groups. My specialty is parenting kids with anxiety and creating secure attachment in the family. Send me an email if you're interested in booking with me for a retreat or class!

My Approach

My approach is relaxed yet intentional. I believe my greatest gift in therapy is my ability to provide a safe place for others to find self-acceptance, healing, and ultimately themselves. Person-centered therapy is the foundation of all the work I do with clients and means that I believe my clients have everything they need within them to heal, grow and change. My job is to simply hold space, to nurture life, to shine light on the ways my clients have already begun healing, and to point to the path ahead of them. No matter their age, the client is the expert on their life and their experiences.

In the same way, I believe children are naturally inclined to grow and heal when they have a supportive, non-judgmental environment with a safe and authentic grown-up in therapy. Garry Landreth says, "Play is the child's language and toys are their words." This philosophy guides the work I do with children ages 3-10 in play therapy.

My thereapeutic approach is both person-centered and specialized to the needs of each clients. I integrate trauma-informed interventions, CBT, Exposure & Response Prevention and more as needed for each client. Let's chat and see how I can meet your or your child's unique needs in therapy.
